It seems like David Guetta ’s India tour 2017 started with a jinx. Music lovers in the country were ready to dance and enjoy to the Grammy-winning DJ’s tunes since the announcement of the tour. It surely seems like a far dream for many.
David Guetta had announced that he will be going on an Indian tour in 2017. He was supposed to perform in four cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.
What went wrong?
The trip downhill started with the DJ’s opening act not getting clearance for entry in India. Then it accelerated to his first show in Bangalore being cancelled where the organizers and police played the blame game on each other. It was supposed to be a charity concert. Then the Mumbai concert scheduled for Friday got cancelled after a change in venue. The Delhi show has also had its fair share of obstructions. The venue that was in Noida has been now changed JLN stadium. So far the EDM star has only been able to perform successfully in Hyderabad.
Now, the Mumbai gig has been rescheduled to 15th January and that is the same day as the Delhi show. The Mumbai show will be held in the afternoon from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Jio Gardens, BKC. This also coincides for mumbaikars with the Mumbai marathon that was on 15th itself. Some fans of the DJ were also upset as they felt that attending concerts in broad daylight is “lame”. The Delhi show on the other hand is set to start at 4 p.m. itself but the French record producer David Guetta isn’t expected to take the stage until 8 p.m.
Around 4000 people are expected to attend the Delhi and Mumbai shows each. The Delhi performance will mark an end to this troubled tour of the artist.
But in the end as the cliched saying goes “All is well that ends well”. So as long as the people attending the shows enjoy everything is worth it. Hopefully, this will not stop Guetta and other artists from coming back to India again and keep us blessed with their performances.
